Malandro Sevilla

Malandro Sevilla is a project where ceramics transcend their traditional function to become integrated into the architecture of the space as a structuring element of the material discourse. Designed by architect Pablo Roig, the restaurant offers an immersive experience in which geometry, texture, and light work together to create a warm, contemporary, and timeless atmosphere.

The intervention is articulated through arches, curved planes, and fluid pathways that organize the space without fragmenting it, generating a continuous and natural flow. This architectural language, characteristic of Pablo Roig, provides visual rhythm and reinforces the project’s identity, moving away from rigid solutions and opting for a more sensory and emotional architecture.

The ceramic tiles take center stage within the design. Beyond their technical performance, they are used as a compositional resource, adding texture, depth, and character to the different planes of the space. The ceramics engage in a dialogue with other fine materials and with the furniture, creating a balance between technical robustness and aesthetic sensitivity, especially relevant in a high-traffic environment like the restaurant.

One of the project’s most recognizable elements is the illustrated mural that accompanies the interior journey. Organically integrated into the architecture, the mural introduces an artistic dimension that reinforces the narrative character of the space, lending identity and uniqueness without disrupting the overall material coherence.

The color palette is built from earth tones, terracotta, and off-whites, which serve as a neutral base upon which more intense accents are incorporated in upholstery, decorative pieces, and handcrafted details. The treatment of light, along with the visual openness between spaces, contributes to creating a welcoming and balanced atmosphere, designed to complement the gastronomic experience without overpowering it.

The result is a space where architecture, interior design, and materials integrate naturally, giving rise to a coherent, sensitive project deeply connected to its identity.
